Security Tightens In Dagbon Over Abudu Andani War


Securitsecurityy in the Northern Region has been beefed up the Gbewaa Palace (Dagbon) in Yendi, following the threat by the members of the Abudu and the Andani family,that they will use all means within their power to perform the final funeral rite of their late chief Naa Mahamudu Abdulai IV.

Mark Woyongo who is the outgoing minister of interior appeal to the two families in Yendi, the Abudus and the Andani to restrain from their violent and let peace prevail in Dagbon.


He also urged government and the committee of eminent chiefs to try to resolve their grievances between the two families. However, the Regional Security Council (RESEC) has deployed the military and police at Dagbon to monitor  the palace and the two families of Dagbon as well,for peace to prevail in the region .The appeal follows after rise in tension in Dagbon, a community which has not seen peace since 2002 after the death of their paramount chief and overlord.

There has been conflict between  Yana Yakubu Andani II and Abudus. The Abudus gave government and the committee of emninent chiefs led by Asantehene his Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, two weeks ultimatum to finish renovating the palace in other for them to perform the final funeral rite of their late chief Naa Mahamudu Abdulai IV.

Meanwhile according to the family, the committee of eminent chiefs has agreed at a point that the funeral of the two late chiefs of Dagbon Naa Mahamudu Abdulai IV and Yana Yakubu Andani II to be performed at the Gbewa palace They also added that, the President has also given them the assurance that he is going to renovate the palace to pave way for the performance of both funerals rites.

Infact the Abudus threatened to forcibly enter the palace and perform the funeral rites if no word comes from the President or Government.
